Grow Organic With Minimal Hassle!

New to Aquaponics?

Aquaponics is a sustainable way to grow fresh food by combining fish farming (aquaculture) and soil-free plant cultivation (hydroponics) in one symbiotic system. Here’s how it works:

  • Fish produce waste that’s packed with nutrients.
  • Beneficial bacteria convert those nutrients into a natural fertilizer.
  • Plants soak up these nutrients, filtering the water for the fish.

The result?

A clean, efficient, closed-loop system that saves water, space, and resources—while producing fresh vegetables and fish year-round.

Our Story

The roots of Fishy Garden trace back to 2011, when Aaron came across a YouTube video about aquaponics. A lifelong enthusiast of gardening, woodworking, and aquarium fish, he immediately recognized how this innovative method could unite all his passions in a fun, sustainable hobby.

Eager to experiment, Aaron repurposed two old stock tanks into his very first 150-gallon aquaponics system. His strong curiosity, experimental nature and love of learning led him to create and refine countless variations of these systems.

Driven by a desire to share his knowledge with others, Aaron founded Fishy Garden—a company dedicated to helping growers learn, build, and succeed in aquaponic gardening.

In 2021, Alexandra discovered her own excitement for aquaponics after marrying Aaron and falling in love with the koi in his gardens—going so far as to name each fish! Together, they hope to grow a vibrant, sustainability-focused community dedicated to healthy living.
